Gas Station Coffee:

Product Packaging & Brand Development

The Challenge

Gas Station Coffee entered a crowded market with a bold idea — coffee that channels the energy of a 1950s fuel stop. Before any packaging could work, the brand needed a strategy: a clear sense of who it was for and how it would stand apart on a shelf full of familiar names. The owner came to me to build that foundation and then carry it all the way through to a packaging system that felt vivid, confident, and unmistakably its own.

I started with positioning, then developed a high-contrast, retro-futuristic design language that runs from the logo through every package and touchpoint — reliable, a little playful, and impossible to mistake for anyone else on the shelf.

What I Delivered

Working directly with the owner from strategy to print-ready files, I handled the full brand and packaging system:

  • Brand strategy and positioning
  • Logo development and brand identity
  • Resealable ground coffee bag design
  • K-Cup box and single-serve packaging design
  • Print coordination and production management
  • Marketing materials, letterhead, and collateral
  • Branded merchandise and apparel

Strategy First, Then Packaging That Sells

For a retail product, the package is the marketing — but only if the underlying strategy is right. I started by defining who Gas Station Coffee was for and what it needed to say, then designed a resealable ground-coffee bag and K-Cup boxes around a vivid, high-contrast color scheme that reads instantly at arm’s length and keeps the brand story consistent from bag to cup. Every panel was prepared print-ready and coordinated through production so the color and finish held up on the actual shelf, not just on screen.

A Cohesive Brand from Pump to Cup

Beyond the packaging, I extended the identity across billboards, a website concept, branded mugs, letterhead, apparel, and seasonal pieces. So wherever a customer meets Gas Station Coffee, it feels like the same confident brand. Because I set the strategy, designed it all myself, and coordinated the printing, nothing drifted off-brand across vendors.
